I thought that negging (‘the practice of insulting or undermining someone in the belief that diminished self-confidence will make them more receptive to sexual advances’) was a pickup technique of the past. Something that’s justifiably gone out of style. But when a man recently came for my love of Vanderpump Rules, I realized it’s still alive and well.
Having my self-professed love of Bravo dubbed as “ridiculous”? Mr. Darcy would never. May as well call me ridiculous. Which makes me wonder, what happened to the days of wooing? If a putdown in a joke’s clothing = a man showing up as his best, what is he like when he’s not trying to impress?
