2023, started with us having planned out a lot of activities - which included assisting our friends at Oyintee and friends (JDTS). This year saw us training the students of King Ado high school, in Scratch and basic logic concepts.
The training consisted of weekly classes that lasted for a month. During the course of the training, we had our volunteers, in persons of Adekogbe Fortune, Ifihan Olusheye, Mbaoma Mary and Oyewumi Damilola, help out.
Our volunteers walked the students through the basic concepts of programming, use of blocks in scratch. An exciting feat that blew the students minds, was how the volunteers tied Scratch concepts to what the students were taught in their classes at school.
At the end of the four weeks, the students took a test - which required them to use their newly acquired knowledge to build simple Scratch programs.
Overall, it was a rewarding experience and we hope the students continue to explore the new path opened up to them.
Cheers and seasons greetings, from all of us at Arete.
