SERIES FIVE DELAY
I wanted to take a moment to address the delay in the start of Series Five. As you may have heard, my transplanted kidney has reached the end of its expected life, and my body has started to reject it. This has made me feel quite unwell, and I will ultimately need a new kidney when this one finally loses all functionality.
The medical team at Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge has been taking care of me, and they have managed to stabilize the kidney where it is for the moment. However, the reality is that I will feel unwell until it gets worse. All these medical ups and downs have also affected my lymphoedema, which has not helped.
I know that many of you were eagerly anticipating the start of Series Five, and I am truly sorry for any disappointment or frustration caused by the delay.
anyway, I'm pleased to share that I have completed the scripts for series six and two special investigations. Although I can't give an exact date for when series six will start, I can assure you that these upcoming projects are going to be worth the wait.
I want to thank you all for your understanding and continued support during this difficult time. Your messages of encouragement and well wishes have meant the world to me, and I am truly grateful for each and every one of them.
Take care, everyone.
Until next time,
Westley

THE GHOSTS OF CHARTERHOUSE
Charterhouse is a hamlet in the Mendip Hills in the English county of Somerset, known for its rich history and tales of folklore. In the first episode of the second series of ‘As yet Unexplained,’ two strange stories from the West Country of the UK were discussed. The first tale is of Richard Gardner, a teacher who took a group of 15 female pupils on a visit to Charterhouse. While on a hiking expedition, a member of the third group of students went missing. Gardner searched for her and heard what sounded like children's laughter coming from the nearby locked Scout Hut. He investigated but found no one there. Later that night, Terry Burch, the Warden of the Charterhouse area, told Gardner of his own story of encountering a strange creature in the visitors centre.
Burch had been a warden for many years, and one of his many duties was to go to the visitors centre before the holiday season and make sure that it was safe and fit for habitation. He stayed at the centre until the first of the visitors arrived and made sure that all checks and odd jobs were taken care of. In 1981, Burch was awakened by the sounds of movements that were coming from outside the building. Sometime later, he was awoken again to the strange sounds of the clatter of claws on the wooden floorboards from within the visitors centre. Burch was of the mind that if the creature had wandered in, it would find its way out again. However, the creature began climbing slowly and deliberately up the centre's staircase before it came snuffling and scratching at the sickbay door.
Both stories are peculiar, and it is unclear what exactly happened in Charterhouse. Gardner's tale suggests that he may have encountered the spirits of local children who worked in the mines in the area. Meanwhile, Burch's story leaves us with a feeling that the creature he encountered was either something mundane that could not be identified, something unearthly or something very earthly and ancient. Regardless of what happened, the stories paint a picture of high strangeness in the area. Charterhouse is also known for being the alleged final resting place of the mythical Norman creation, King Arthur, and is watched over by the Welsh mythical figure of Merlin.
The West Country is known for its rich tales of folklore and tradition, and Charterhouse is no exception. The area has a long history of human occupation, dating back to the late Neolithic and early Bronze Age periods. It was also the site where the early Carthusian order obtained a grant to mine the area of Lead ore. The mines were still active during the medieval and Victorian periods, albeit on a smaller scale. Today, Charterhouse is home to a visitors centre that serves as a base for walking, climbing, and general holidaying.
Charterhouse will always be a place of mystery and intrigue, with its tales of strange creatures and paranormal activity. As we continue to explore the unexplained, we look forward to uncovering more stories from the mystical West Country of England.

I'm sorry to hear about the kidney. Is this a common thing with organ transplants?
