I Don’t Want Another Child: I Thought I Was Partially Paralyzed During Labour
Last week, we asked you to share your labour experience with the community and we received a lot of responses which we’ll be sharing consequently but one stood out for us. Can labour actually cause partial paralysis? Read from a mama;
Hello Babymigo 😍
Thank you for creating this community! I was happy to finally share my experience with other wonderful mamas on the tribe.
I’m a first time mum and I just welcomed my baby girl four months ago. Other women say you forget the pain of labour but I beg to differ, mine is still fresh in my mind.
I don't like speaking about my labour experience because I would always get shut down and told “I’m a woman and I'm supposed to handle the pain.”
I've had multiple miscarriages before I finally gave birth to my princess, but I never really went past the first trimester.
Last year, God answered my prayers and my pregnancy passed the first trimester. It had its ups and downs and during antenatal, the midwives and nurses usually say, “Labour is just like menstrual cramps but in a millionfold.” I’ve always had painful cramps so I believed the older mummies that my labour pain was going to be less because according to them, “if you've had painful menstrual flow, labour would be a breeze.”
My eyes saw pepper, Babymigo 🤣
On the fateful day I welcomed my baby, I was doing the dishes because I was home alone. I felt a sharp pain by the side of my tummy that felt like someone was twisting my internal organs. I almost slipped and fell but I held onto the handle of my fridge. I couldn't feel my legs and screaming became difficult for me.
I screamed at the top of my voice for someone to assist me but it felt like they couldn't hear me. I slowly took myself to the ground and tried to force my legs but it became stiff.
The contractions was non-stop. I even pee’d on myself because I couldn’t move.
I kept screaming for help till my neighbour finally heard and came to help me up (I live in a compound btw)
I felt like dying and at that moment I concluded I wasn't going to have another child in a long time. I don't know if I’m going to have another child anytime soon but I’m scared to go through that experience again.
I don't like telling people because they look at me with disgust especially my mother-in-law.
What do I do? How do I tell my husband I’m scared of getting pregnant again? Please I need your advice 🙏
Mamas, help a fellow momstar out. What do you think she should do? 🥲
