Intro to this Substack
Hi all. Welcome to my Substack! You’re probably already wondering why this random dude decided to start one. I’m finding more and more that I want to write all my tips and tricks out in long- and short-form, both for Godot and for Firebase. I’m also intending to update y’all on game progress as my team codes them, and various jam entries and successes.
I’m genuinely hoping to build a community revolving around Godot and Firebase. Why? Godot is a game engine that is more powerful than you’d expect, especially considering that it’s free. I have a ton of experience with it, both programming it and programming with it, and want to share that information! With Firebase, I’m a well-known community member that created and maintains the GodotFirebase plugin, a REST-based implementation so that Firebase can be used across all exports that Godot supports. It’s a fantastic cloud-based database, and there’s just not that much info out there about using it with Godot and game-programming generally, so…be prepared to be flooded with tips and tricks! And please contribute by adding comments and such - I love interacting with my subscribers and community members.
If you’re wondering, paid content will tend to be massive game programming articles, mostly about how to handle certain types of full game developments. You can expert these once every couple of months, as they will require quite some effort to produce. At the same time, my normal programming (pun intended) will likely be once every 1-2 weeks, or maybe twice.
