How to Write For Bow Your Head And Say Yes
A place for women leaving high-demand religion to share their experiences
We want to hear your story! We created this space to be run by women FOR women. It’s a space to tell their story of oppression within any high-demand religion.
Bow Your Head and Say Yes is run by ex-mormon women who know all too well what it’s like to feel oppressed, and less than at church, in their culture, and even in their own homes. But, we know this is not an exclusive experience for ex-mormon women, so we want to hear from anyone who can relate to the stories and experiences found here.
Not a strong writer? That’s OK! We have experience editing, and would still love to hear from you.
How to submit
You can simply email your submission to bowyourheadsayyes@gmail.com.
We hope to take as many stories as we can. Keep in mind, at least 500 words makes a solid article, and anything over 1500 words might lose the reader’s interest unless you’re telling a riveting story.
However, there is NO word limit.
We would love poetry, art, or any sort of expression of your experience feeling oppressed as a woman in your faith. Long-form experiences like you hear on the Mormon Stories podcast work as long as they stay on track and lead the reader through a compelling story, or short little stories like you’d share in a blog post or on Reddit work too. You can remain anonymous, or we can include your name and link back to your social media if you’d prefer.
How you can support Bow Your Head and Say Yes
We dream of perhaps publishing a book one day of the collected stories, and even starting a podcast specifically about women and their stories leaving high-demand religion. But, we need your support.
