Every time she blinked, something in the room moved. She was perplexed for the first 20 minutes. But she wasn't a fool-she quickly figured out the condition: every time she blinked, something in the room changed. She stopped blinking and took a good look around. The television was on, the sofa was where it should be, and she noted the position of everything in the room.
She decided to blink. After she blinked, the TV remote moved from her hand to the table. She was confused at first, wondering if this was some strange quirk of her room. She opened the door and stepped outside, then blinked. Nothing changed. She walked back inside and looked at the wall clock. It read 10:52 AM.
She blinked again, as an insect flew into her face. This time, the clock now showed 12:52 PM. She was shocked-she had just checked the time. She decided to blink again. The clock read 2:52 PM. Every time she blinked, two hours passed, and the position of something in the room changed. She noticed that a few times, two or three things moved with a single blink.
After realizing the time was jumping, her mind went blank. She needed something normal to focus on after all this strange activity. She opened her laptop, started her notepad, and tried to distract herself with her online part-time job. But when she blinked, a look of surprise crossed her face. Her laptop was on, and notes were written on her notepad.
She froze. The notes weren't hers. The screen said:
"Don't blink. Watch carefully."
Her hand shook as she read more:
"Something was in the room."
She was scared. She looked around the room, but nothing was out of place. The chair had moved again-closer this time. She tried not to blink, but her eyes hurt. Desperate for answers, she grabbed her phone to call someone, but the screen displayed a strange message:
"Blink."
Her heart raced. She couldn't stop herself. She blinked.
Darkness.
She couldn't see anything.
When she opened her eyes, she was outside her apartment. The door was locked. The clock read 5:02 PM. She had no memory of coming outside.
Inside the room, something was waiting... waiting for her next blink.
She stood outside, shivering. Had she imagined everything? Taking a deep breath, she reached for the door handle. It was locked.
Her laptop was still on inside her room. The screen glowed through the window, its eerie light spilling onto the sidewalk. She peered in, her breath catching. The words on the screen were the same as before.
"Blink."
But this time, beneath it, a new message appeared, shimmering faintly:
"The Blinker's Curse."
Her heart pounded. She blinked. The screen changed again. Something was written beneath it:
"The Blinker's Curse has claimed you."
She blinked once more.
Darkness.
The End
