SHORT Video: Continuous Texts and Decodable Passages in April

2

Hello! I continue with my commitment of showing shorter videos of what’s happening at my small group instruction table as well as what’s happening around the rest of the classroom during centers.

On this video, you’ll see a sampling of Continuous Texts, which I do every Wednesday. They are certainly a huge driver in the ongoing improvement of my students’ ability to read longer and longer decodable texts. Also included is Thursday of this week as it is a good follow-up to the introduction of decodable passages with comprehension questions that I introduced to the students last week. As a reminder, the decodable passages you see in the video are from Anne Gardner on Teachers Pay Teachers. Are they the best ones out there? I have no idea. But they’re the ones I purchased and they work very well for me this time of year. For most of the year, however, I use the materials I create because I like to control the subject matter and content of what I give to the students in order to reinforce vocabulary, content, and connections.

If you’d like to get your hands on some of my continuous texts (I have a whole folder full of them, plus many other folders full of all sorts of materials), they’re available with a paid subscription. With your upgrade to paid, it’s also perfectly okay to ask me to change up words or content on existing materials or just create some new ones for you, with different reading levels or different topics.

I hope this spring is finding you with a lot of little readers on your hands. :)
