SHORT Video: One Day of Centers mid-March

4

I feel it’s important to show you a WEEK of centers so you can see how I divvy up the time I have with students for small group instruction and also so you can see what all the other students are doing. How many new activities do I have each day throughout the week and how many center activities just repeat themselves (making planning easier, implementation easier, and ensuring more success on the students’ end)? This is what I’ve been documenting for a year-and-a-half, or more.

In case you’re new here or need a recap, this is how I divvy up my time for small group instruction at this point in the school year:

Monday - see all 27 students for Read and Draw some weeks or to read decodable books (every other Monday)

Tuesday - word list testing for all 27 students and phonological awareness training for as many as I have time for

Wednesday - listen to all 27 students read (at least part of) a new continuous text

Thursday - work on spelling/writing with all 27 students

Friday - word list testing for all 27 students and phonological awareness training for as many as I have time for (same as Tuesday).

Today I thought I’d video my small group instruction and the other centers. Just today. No full week, no hour-long video. Just a short video so that hopefully you have time to watch it and hopefully you get a few ideas.
