Today, I want to share recent happenings with you regarding promises, and it's all rooted in my personal experiences.

Eager to continue taking charge of my menopause journey…

I committed to making small, incremental changes in my lifestyle, particularly in how I move and what I eat. These seemingly minor shifts have had a significant impact on my energy levels, confidence, and overall well-being.

What triggered this transformation?

It was a question I stumbled upon while reading my friend Stephen Kotler's new book, "Gnar Country: Growing Old, Staying Rad," which delves into peak performance aging. Kotler asked a simple yet profound question: "Can you keep a promise to yourself?"

This question completely shifted my perspective.

Building the “promise muscle”

I began reflecting on the promises I'd made to myself over my 59 years, some I'd kept, and others I hadn't. I decided to build my "promise muscle," much like building physical or mental strength, by starting small and gradually pushing my boundaries.

I began with a promise to myself – giving up sugar, not entirely but around 90 to 95%. This seemingly small commitment led to giving up alcohol as well. It was a gradual process, not a sudden change, but it made a world of difference in how I felt physically and mentally.

Inch by Inch You Go!

I invite you to consider your own promises, no matter how modest they may seem. Start small, just an inch at a time, as Steven suggests.

Keeping these promises can boost your confidence, motivation, and overall well-being. I've learned that even the tiniest behavioral changes can have a significant impact.

So, what's your promise? Put your hand on your heart and declare it. It might not always be easy, but inch by inch, you'll grow stronger, and the possibilities are limitless.
