So I shared your post on a thread with others discussing this topic and someone pointed out that you're still on social media ... interesting! I hadn't checked. So what changed? How long were you off and why are you back?

Hi! Just saw your previous comment on this post. Yes, I wrote this article 2.5 years ago when I left. I JUST went back on...like three weeks ago. I’m working on a substack article about it. Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll stay. I’m trying it out, but I will share all about why I poked back in, what my experience has been since being there, and how I’m approaching it, for now...thanks for reading and checking in, I’m excited to share the nuances of my experience.

This whole thing RESONATES HARD. I rarely post, am baffled by the amount of time a good friend spends posting, although one of the reasons I get on is to see her posts, which I love, but yet sometimes make me "feel bad" because of the comparison trap. It's so bizarre and whiplash-y. Only occasionally do I go down the rabbit hole, mostly when I'm feeling overly tired or like sh*t. It doesn't make things better. The *very rare* times I get on FB is much worse, which is why I don't/can't. My rare IG posts do go to FB, which I still have, but like I said, really don't check. I question why I even post to FB then. So many layers here. Fear of missing out? Fear of not being seen? Wanting to support friends? Make connections? We have three teens, seeing how they interact (or don't) is an entirely bizarre thing to me as well. As you mentioned, thank goodness we didn't have social media "back then." I could go on, but really just wanted to say that I really appreciated how you framed this entire thing.
