Hello there, thanks for checking out my newsletter again this week. Last week, I wrote about my experience dealing with burnout for over a month and how I am gradually trying to get out of that phase. This week, I want to talk about creating an enabling environment.
After I figured out the main reasons for my burnout, which was majorly due to anxiety caused by over-productivity, I started looking for ways to tackle it during the week and found something profound. I discovered that just like me, many humans on the planet have low willpower, which means I run away from things at the slightest sign of difficulty. Which made me realize that I need to put in place systems to keep me accountable and help me start things easily without over-thinking.
Here are 3 hacks I’m exploring, in my journey to overcome this burnout phase.
Creating a to-do list: This has been helping me lately because I now need to think less about the things I need to do, thereby reducing my over-productivity anxiety.
Journaling: Whenever I’m in my feelings, I try to let them out rather than keep them in and allow them to affect my mental health. I use the NguvuHealth app to record my thoughts in text and audio (whenever I am too tired to type).
Relaxing: As a productivity wannabe, I try to take more breaks and rest more often and not feel guilty about it. This is something I didn't always do previously, but now I can see how it helps me clear my mind.
These are some of the worth-sharing tips I discovered this week. I hope you can learn a thing or two.
Now, I’m active at my job, my productivity is gradually increasing and I am more excited about my life. I’m looking forward to when I finally get out of this burnout phase, till then I will continue to write about my experience week after week.
