I’ll be brief. It’s not great.
OHIO
Voters chose to not just “restore Roe,” as the constitutional amendment was advertised, but go far beyond what Roe ever established thus becoming one of, if not the, most permissive states in the union on abortion. Issue 1 on the ballot codifies abortion-on-demand as birth control up until birth in the state’s constitution and removes parental consent requirements not just for abortion, but sterilization and gender transitions for minors. Fetal viability is left to the discretion of the doctor. Even moderate Governor Mike DeWine said the proposal, now passed and in effect within the net 30 days, goes too far.
KENTUCKY
Democrat incumbent Governor Andy Beshear held off challenger Republican AG Daniel Cameron, despite Cameron spending 2:1 over Beshear. As I discussed on air, Beshear is a Democrat, but a Manchin-type Democrat.
VIRGINIA
Winning the trifecta of both the state’s chambers plus controlling the Governor’s man sion was always a hard challenge, especially after redistricting, and Republicans needed to just hold off in two races. Democrats take the House of Delegates and hold off the GOP challenge to their control in the Senate. Consider: Redistricting was tough on Rs in the state. The GOP over-performed in the state in 2021 so considering the redistricting battle and increasing GOP voters, this wasn’t the mandate on Youngkin that Democrats will insist it is tomorrow on cable news all day. Victory doesn’t come fast nor easy, it come incrementally. Youngkin is still Governor for two years and the margin if victory for Ds in VA is small.
A couple other things to consider:
The GOP outspent Democrats in each of these states.
Republicans are outperforming Trump in northern VA.
I’m still digesting all of this and will have a full breakdown on air tomorrow.
Ohio has fallen into darkness. The progressives have brainwashed an entire generation. It sickens me to the core.
I guess the people in Ohio like to think that all wanted what they put on the ballot.
