RFK Jr.’s VP Pick Backs Soros Prosecutors
A Democrat announced his far-left VP pick and people are shocked. Nicole Shanahan, an entrepreneur and ex-wife of Google founder Sergey Brin, is a major donor to Soros-backed prosecutors like L.A.’s George Gascon and a huge financial backer of “restorative justice.”
I’m not sure why his pick disappointed people. Kennedy is an anti-gun, far left dynasty Democrat who said global warming skeptics were “traitors” who should be “punished under law.” He got it right on COVID shots, one issue. So now he’s the thought leader for the right?
I’ll be honest, and I say this as someone who enthusiastically backed DeSantis in the primary — people on the right who back RFK Jr. over Trump in the general because they don’t think Trump is conservative enough are ironically committing the same offense of which they accuse Trump.
If someone doesn’t like Trump as a person they should just say so. Trump is a moderate on some things, people who’ve paid attention since 2016 and before know all of this. Predicating the rejection on the principle of conservatism and then pivoting to support someone who is to the left of him on most issues except the “vaccine” is hollow. I’ve explained before, when the general election arrives politicians become pieces on the game board for me (except this isn’t a game at all and much more serious with more at stake). It’s all about advancing the issues I support towards the win.
Trump’s VP?
Some on X are floating the possibility of Tulsi Gabbard as VP. No. Gabbard is anti-gun, very anti-gun and has been so consistently for years. Her fans have tried to make the case to me that she’s changed, but where? No one would welcome a genuine change on this issue from her than me, ticker-tape parade-level happy. But I won’t make apologies for having been betrayed so often by politicians that I’m unwilling to extend to them any benefit of doubt.
I don’t know who Trump’s VP pick will be and at this point I honestly don’t think he does yet, either.
MSNBC and Ronna
NBC announced that they have already fired former RNC head Ronna Romney McDaniel before she actually got started as the newest (and only?) MSNBC Republican contributor. The move was made because the co-dependent depo-baby psychos on “Morning Joe” and others like Larry O’Donnell, Rachel Maddow, and Jen Psaki all complained.
I’m not a Ronna fan, but this is petty and unprofessional from MSNBC. They previously had no problem hiring former Obama and Clinton staffers like David Axelrod, Rachel Racusen, Jen Psaki, Robert Gibbs, Karen Finney, Ed Rendell, Jared Bernstein -- not to mention all the other former Obama and Clinton staffers at other networks. McDaniel was fired solely because she is a Trump-affiliated Republican. At least CNN brings in some Republicans and what some might consider ideological blowhards on the right. MSNBC is terrified to even whisper “Republican” else the bitter, less talented Great Value version of Kelly and Regis might hold another Two Minutes Hate sesh on air.
Michael Steele, a Democrat who pretended to be Republican for a second can rest easy knowing he can still singularly merchandise the R affiliation as a contributor.
Drama On the Right
I went professional with radio in the fall of 2008. Before that I was a newspaper columnist, freelancer, and conservative activist. I’ve been in politics for awhile now and have met some very wonderful people and have met some very awful people. The awful experiences are unfortunately the ones that determine the size of your inner circle and how easily you’ll trust people, if ever, again. I joke that maybe one day I’ll write a book about it all.
Jared Monroe is one of the good guys in an industry where the assumption is that the “R” or “conservative” designation with your name or profession bestows kindness, ethics, morality, faith, or loyalty. It doesn’t. Because a lot of us follow the Matthew 18 model on resolving conflict within our “side,” most of what happens backchannel never sees daylight because it distracts from the bigger fight. (Sometimes I wonder though if the struggles backchannel aren’t sometimes part of the bigger fight.)
Having gone through similar (not with The Blaze; I had long left on great terms by the time Jared arrived) I know how difficult, expensive, and frightening lawfare can be and I’m praying for Jared as he powers through this difficult time.
Dana
You missed a biggy on today's program when joe biden (I never capitalize his name, not enough respect) said he used the Francis Scott Key bridge by both car and rail coming down from Delaware. I am very familiar with the FSK bridge and I can tell you it does not now nor has it ever had rail service over the bridge. It was built in the early 70's to alleviate the 20 mile back ups every summer on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. No trains then, no trains now.
Seems RFK JR didn't do his homework. Or meant to pick her.
