Me too.
Today was disappointing for many of us who wanted Democrats in Congress to use the only leverage they had to fight back against the authoritarian takeover of America.
Personally, I am very disappointed. Especially in Chuck Schumer.
That said, I would like to make a point:
There are 261 Democrats in Congress across both chambers. 249 of them voted to take a stand. 12 of them didn’t. That’s 4% of the party.
So if you’re inclined to be angry, as I am today, I urge you to direct your anger at the individuals who made the wrong choice here, not at the party as a whole.
Many of our leaders spoke articulately and passionately about why they should unite against the GOP’s power grab. AOC, Raskin, Merkley, Jeffries, Warnock, Smith & others. Many took tough votes in tough states and districts.
Maligning “Democrats” in our networks hurts the brand of 249 of 261 who actually made the right choice over the past week.
Tell Them What You Think
We created a form you can use to send an email to your congressional delegation.
If they’re Dems who voted against the CR, it THANKS them.
If they’re Dems who voted for the CR, it CONDEMNS that choice.
If they’re GOP, basically it says 🖕.
Hang in there. Love you guys.

As I said on Bluesky last night when Schumer’s statement came out:
The people were ALWAYS going to have to lead the way.
The movement is not the party.
The PEOPLE are the movement.
Is anyone really surprised?
The answer is in organizing. Not in hoping that feckless politicians will grow backbones.

I would comment and take Dem polls but all requests come with asking for money. I am sick of these requests, several a day!!!
This was super easy to do. I will share that I did quite a bit of editing on the templates (I’m apparently not nearly as nice as the original author) but really appreciated the form as a great way to start. Thanks for putting these together for us all!
