I didn't know what I was doing when I started writing online. My idea of earning money online was writing a book and putting it on KDP on Amazon. I wrote lesson plans, unit plans, and worksheets for two years and put them on Teachers Pay Teachers. I've also written mathematics workbooks and published them on Amazon.
I made some money on TPT and Amazon but was far from significant income to help with bills. I stumbled across Medium from an educator on Medium. I immediately signed up but didn't do anything for several months. I didn't know what to write, so I did what I'd always done. I wrote about my teaching career and mathematics. I soon realized I was writing in the void. No one was reading my articles.
I joined an education platform on Medium to interact with fellow teachers but quickly lost interest. After 20 + years of teaching, I didn't want to write about teaching. I also realized no one was interested in teacher stories on Medium. I removed all my articles from the educational publication and started my writing journey on Medium.
I'm now entering my third year of writing essay articles online; the two years before, I wrote mathematics educational resources such as mathematics workbooks. June and July were my best two months earning money by writing articles online. It's still in the middle of July, so I plan to shatter my June earnings online.
I've always thought of creating a podcast but was too afraid to try it because I might fail. But I had a change of heart. I plan to launch my official podcast on Substack in several months. Today's podcast is an introduction to what you can expect from my podcast.
Some episodes will be solo; I'll do a 10 to 20 minutes podcast. There will also be a podcast where I'll have a guest writer come on and share their thoughts about starting as a writer. Here is what I plan to talk about and answer on the podcast.
