Hey Epic Human,
I took a break from writing my travelogues because they were a lot of work! They were taking hours to assemble, and it was eating up too much valuable time.
I’ve sat with the problem for these many months, and we’ve decided to try posting a joint travel diary that’s more spontaneous and “in the moment” than the formal newsletter I was generating. We’ve chosen Sub-stack as our medium, and we’ll be giving this format a trial to see whether it’s more effective for us. Feel free to send us your feedback and let us know your thoughts! (You can also comment on our entries, which the previous format did not permit.)
Over time, I plan to migrate my previous newsletters to this platform so all the material is collected together, plus I expect to cover some of the events that transpired during our suspension of posting (which will be “old news,” but still interesting we hope).
Since this is a “rebirth” of sorts, it seems appropriate to inaugurate it in tandem with a birthday celebration. Robin celebrated his birthday on June 2nd, and we dined in a pub nearby in his honor.
We wrapped up the evening with a modest cake and candle, and Robin was pleased to be feted in this way. We will be celebrating his birthday throughout the entire month, however, since we are kicking off a big new adventure!
We are travelling from the UK to Cyprus with our car, which entails taking four ferries and driving across some countries. As I type this, we are currently on the first ferry, travelling from Portsmouth in the UK to Santander in Spain. We will drive to Barcelona to catch the next ferry, which will take us to Genoa in Italy. We will visit with a frind in northern Italy and will also visit Venice. From there, we will drive down the coast to Ancona, where we will catch another ferry to Patras in Greece. Another short drive from there to Piraeus where we catch the final ferry to Limassol in Cyprus. Whew!
Stay tuned as we update you with our ongoing adventures.
You have introduced me to this medium! I really like it as you have demonstrated it .... living vicariously through your travels, this makes everything so clear and lovely!
