Hello September
Hello September! Ready to ‘fall’ into a good book? You’re in luck, because I happen to have a brand-new escapade coming your way this season!
That’s right, friends! The second Lilibet book is currently with my proofreader! We’ll be releasing plot, title and cover reveals over the next few weeks, so stay tuned! I am really excited to share this next entry of Lilibet Lynn’s time-travel shenanigans with you!
I’m also psyched to be using a professional proofreader this time. It wasn’t something I felt I could afford with my first two novels, but “The Mermaid and the Unicorn” really suffered because of that. I’m hoping I can rectify that at some point!
Speaking of mythical creatures, particularly the ones utilizing musical magic, I’d like to encourage my “Song of the Fay” fans to increase alertness. I needed to whip out another Lilibet book first because I knew I could write that the quickest, and I wanted to cement that readership. However, I’m shifting gears for my next project, and I think you all are going to find it worth the long wait!
In the meantime, I hope you will enjoy the next Lilibet adventure. Although it’s targeted at younger readers, I wrote it to be enjoyed by all ages, and have gotten some really positive feedback from adult readers. If you haven’t met my intrepid time-traveler yet, I’d like to invite you to check out her introduction here!
While August was a tremendously busy month for me, I did manage to blog about a recent read. You may also find it worth your time! Check out my thoughts on Sayantani Dasgupta’s modern retelling of “Pride and Prejudice” here! You’ll have to see if you agree with my analysis as to whether this additional retelling was worth adding to the Austen adaptations. I’ll leave you with a teaser: it centers around a high school debate team…
Looking for more reading suggestions? I’ve got a long list of past book reviews on my blog. I also throw up short suggestions over on my Instagram—along with discussions on writing, fiction, history, and historical fashion. Last month I particularly enjoyed diving into the character and motivations of Mr. And Mrs. Bennet from “Pride and Prejudice” and you can read the entire thread in my Jane Austen Highlight. (Click through until you get past the dresses!)
That’s all for now, but keep an eye on your inbox!
