In truth, I should call myself Mr. Anxiety. However, there are days when I don't feel anxious, especially when I'm sleeping. Because, besides, I can get anxious and nervous over the simplest things you can imagine.
I cannot blame my anxiety on the pandemic, as I must have suffered from this disease before I was even born. That is, it must be because of her that I was born at 8 months. Yes, this 44-year-old young man who writes to you, at 193 cm (no matter his weight) was born ahead of time. Soon, anxiety I understand.

How to make anxiety not harm you
The Brazilian Ministry of Health says that anxiety "is a disease related to the functioning of the body and life experiences". You can even feel anxious most of the time, adds the government agency.
Affliction;
Agony;
Impatience;
Restlessness.
Above we see four symptoms that can turn on the alert that you may be suffering from anxiety. However, it could also just be a bummer of your personality. Anyone who doubts is crazy.
But jokes aside, I say with some propriety that it's not pleasant to be anxious. Whether for simple or complex things. Plus, you end up taking it out or trying to control your anxiety by eating, drinking, and even working harder.
According to the American Psychiatric Association (APA), 30% of adults will have an anxiety disorder at some point in their lives. In addition, the causes of this disorder are not yet known or what their triggers are.

Some Harms of Anxiety
The probability of you dying from anxiety is very low, it's true. Now, the damage it can do to your health is not small. In other words, when this disorder becomes pathological and begins to affect psychic (mental) and somatic (body) functioning, it is time to seek help from a professional.
Otherwise, in addition to carrying the burden of anxiety, you may also start to suffer from gastritis, ulcers, colitis, tachycardia, hypertension, headache, and allergies. They are diseases that can appear due to worry and stress.
I write this with a bit of anxiety, as in extreme cases psycho-neurological and psycho-oncological diseases may arise. But that old maxim fits here too: while there is life, there is hope. In other words, there are some steps you can take to minimize it, but without forgetting that the help of a good professional is of excellent value and necessity.
Practice relaxation techniques
We know that anxiety and relaxation are antagonistic things, like water and oil, they don't mix. Now, you have to keep in mind that you don't change the condition you're living in by doing the same things. In other words, a little good will on your part will be needed.
Focus on deep breathing, muscle relaxation, and visualization to reduce anxiety and tension. In the first moments, it will be a difficult exercise, but if you are reading this text it is because you are not looking for facilities. What do you say about it?
Exercise regularly
Contrary to what you think, exercise is not just to make you fit, with that nice ab or that firm butt. Our body was not made to stand still, and movement is necessary for many organs to function properly.
“You are not a collector's car to sit still.”
When exercise regularly, helps to reduce stress and improve your mood. You oxygenate the brain, and the body, and everything work healthily.
Take advantage of the fact that you just read this, look for a physical education professional and get moving. Only you and those around you stand to gain because even your boredom will diminish.
Get enough sleep.
Here we have a problem. Or rather, I have a problem: what is enough sleep? I was a good man in bed, I lay down and slept peacefully for 8 to 12 hours. Also, at 9 pm I was already settling in for sleep.
“Today, when I manage to sleep 4 to 6 hours straight, it is to praise the Lord. Hallelujah."
Lack of sleep can make anxiety worse, so try to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep a night. An extra tip here, for those of you who always have your cell phone in your hand, leave it in another room. Sleep only together with your spouse or your stuffed animal.
Talk to someone
Talking with someone you trust can help you express your thoughts and feelings and reduce your anxiety. Or else, if you suspect even your own shadow, an alternative is to write.
Not! I'm not saying write it down and publish it for everyone to see, because that's not for everyone, because you've probably heard that the nail that sticks out gets hammered. Are you prepared for this?
Yeah, I was suspicious of your answer. So, write a diary. Put everything on paper the way it comes out of your head and don't worry about spelling, grammar, and such. Just do it.
Avoid caffeine and alcohol
Protest! How do you avoid caffeine? I am writing this text already in my second cup of coffee. Please bring me here who suggested such a thing.
As for alcohol, just one question: why do you drink it?
Caffeine and alcohol can make anxiety worse, so try to limit your intake of these substances. In addition, the amount of coffee you consume increases adrenaline, which can somatize in some situations, such as phobias, for example.
Okay, I'll finish
Before saying goodbye, in case you're still around, I'd like to leave you the link to the World Health Organization: click here. At this link, you can download the illustrated guide “Doing what matters in times of stress”. That is, there are other techniques that can help you deal with stress and, consequently, reduce anxiety.
Finally, I hope you enjoyed this type of text, that just as I suffer from anxiety, we can minimize this disease that interferes with our daily lives. Let me know what you think, as well if you want to share something in the comments section. Is all yours.
