Dear Tarot: Should I Stay or Should I Go?
Dear Tarot,
I’ve been contemplating a career change for some time now. There is very little growth available in my current job and I’ve become increasingly resistant towards working for someone else over the past few years.
I’m feeling drawn not just towards entrepreneurship, but towards working for myself in a field that’s completely different from my current position…something I’ve felt passionate about since my teen years, but have accumulated very little professional experience in.
Should I put all that I can into my passion project part time or should I look for full time work/schooling to help me build up experience in this new arena?
Sincerely,
Procrastinating on a Pivot
Dear Procrastinating,
Your circumstance are not uncommon right now and everyone’s path is slightly different. That being said, I know that fellow readers will find wisdom for themselves within your reading.
First, I have to say that you are SO much more capable than you feel right now! There are many powerful cards within your spread, however, all but three are upside down. This tells me it only takes a shift in perspective to unlock your full potential. Granted, for most of us lovely humans, a shift in perspective feels a whole lot easier with outside action…so let’s talk about what that might be.
I do not get the feeling that you need to immerse yourself in full time job or training just yet. You mentioned a resistance around working for others so I see that committing to something full time, even in the name of this new passion, is a recipe for feeling just as trapped there as you do right now. Instead, I recommend you seek out confidence builders with a smaller time commitment like workshops, certification programs, and internships. As you encounter more evidence that you’ve signed up to learn what you already know, you will feel increasingly comfortable in owning your power.
To ease any worries you might have around making this transition, know that the cards tell a definite story of one cycle ending and another one beginning. The only thing that’s holding up the process is your need to believe in yourself first. Don’t beat yourself up though, take it one step at a time and trust that it will happen in the perfect timing. In the meantime, do whatever you can to feel practiced in your passion and open to your intuition. Meditation and your chosen form of therapy can train you to trust your instincts.
Finally, do not disregard help from the outside world! There are a few cards here that indicate your resistance towards working for others is blocking your openness to working with others. Know that those are two very different things. There is a community of friends (and even strangers!) waiting to support you in this transition, but you have to reach out. Know that any monetary support you might need will come from unconventional sources. Don’t misunderstand, there will be no angel investor sweeping in to take care of all of the bills for you, but if you stay open the dollars will flow in, even if it’s pennies at a time. The Universe wants you to succeed.
Here’s to pivoting with more precision & embracing excellence with ease. 🥂
