Last week’s TMQ led with a prediction that Aaron Rodgers would not have a good season – and All Predictions Wrong! Of course no one could have known he would sustain what’s apparently a bad injury, or that Zack Wilson would become the hero of the NFL’s opening week.
But the Bills-Jets contest on Monday Night Football reminds us why sports captivate our attention – because you don’t know what will happen. Scripted shows may be enjoyable but are canned productions. News shows are so repetitive you can guess the next sentence. Reality shows have been edited.
Sporting events are live action. You don’t know what’s going to happen. When Rodgers went down hurt in the first quarter and Buffalo took a quick lead, you never would have guessed Jersey/B would win in overtime. Sports are compelling because the audience has no idea what comes next.
