Did Ryan Bridge and Dr. Nikki Turner just validate Anti-Vax skepticism of New Zealand media?
Today on the Media (13th April, 2022), Ryan interviewed Dr. Turner, and asked a question that would have been considered “anti-vax” six months ago:
Ryan Bridge: “There was though a period of time wasn’t there where somebody felt that they had those symptoms or was worried about it, it was almost like it was a hush hush because we wanted people to get vaccinated?”
Dr. Nikki Turner: “I think that was in the very early days.”
This was after a teenager became the third possible official death from the Pfizer injection in New Zealand.
Back in November (2021) I wrote this opinion piece in which I asked if the NZ media were under-reporting harm from the Pfizer injection. Well, it turns out Dr. Turner agreed with me, at least “back in the early days.” That opinion piece was written when there were about eleven hundred serious adverse events on Medsafe (a group dedicated to compiling data on medicine safety in New Zealand). They estimate “that only about 5% of reactions are reported…”
(A little side note here: Medsafe said of the 156 deaths reported to CARM, “89 of these deaths are unlikely related to the COVID-19 vaccine”; “51 deaths could not be assessed due to insufficient information”; and “14 cases are still under investigation.” It’s also worth pointing out that it’s probably quite possible to over-report adverse events.)
For want of definition, an adverse event is something requiring further medical intervention; a side effect is something that – at least most of the time – will resolve on its own without long-term damage, though some side effects require minor medical intervention.
Here's the serious adverse events table in Mesafe’s most recent safety report (excluding background hospitalizations) up to the end of February, 2022:
Another one of the rather amazing statements made in this interview was by Dr. Turner – she said:
“Anything we do in medicine we should be listening to people and listening to what they say, and that’s a crucial part of medicine. In the early days, when we weren’t absolutely sure, it was really important to listen.”
I want to emphasize this: she said “IT WAS REALLY IMPORTANT TO LISTEN.”
I distinctly remember last year that anyone who wasn’t in a huge hurry to get vaccinated was considered “selfish” – and this was broadcast on TV, in newspapers, all over the place.
For instance, in November of 2021, the NZ Herald quoted Peter Reynolds, New Zealand Disability Support Network’s (NZDSN) chief executive:
"Those who are adamant they will not vaccinate against Covid are being incredibly selfish and short-sighted.”
I remember just about all the media reporting was one-sided. The articles that discussed vaccine hesitancy were always written by someone who encouraged vaccination, never by someone who was hesitant enough to not get it. The articles discussing people who were anti-vax always took the approach that those opposed to vaccinations (in general, and to Covid-19 jabs) were insane, paranoid, deluded in some way, and always ignored the “corporate profit can distort science” arguments. The closest I saw the media come to this was an Otago Daily Times editorial that wrote that there was a time for discussion about how much profit can distort science… but obviously that time was not until everyone had “done the right thing” and got jabbed (I’ll try find the citation for this).
What also amazed me is that there was no debate prior to the mandates being rolled out. I wrote a couple of pieces about the need for debate between Ardern, Bloomfield, Baker, Wiles, etc (on one side) versus the NZDSOS on the other. Something like this would have been incredibly important.
When I wrote about fluoridation I observed that often people avoided statements and evidence provided by people on the other side of the debate, this sort of thing could be acknowledged, addressed, and discussed by everyone in any normal debate. But in taboo subjects like public health and medicine, we act stupidly: we avoid debate and open discussion, we censor, we abuse, we denigrate, vilify and gaslight, and then we wonder why some of those “other” people don’t accept everything we say.
(Public health has a lot of taboo topics because of the huge amount of corporate money.)
Experts in fluoridation (and it appears, “vaccination” – if that’s what you want to call this Pfizer injection) always claim to have refuted and addressed the claims made by their detractors, but this is false. I provided many examples of it here. It can be falsely, confidently, and emphatically claimed, and believed by the bulk of listeners, because there’s no debate. There’s no moderator to point out “hey Dr. XYZ, you never addressed PRECISELY THIS POINT HERE.” So most experts are probably unaware they’re not really addressing the comments, claims and evidence made by their detractors.
A case in point:
Yesterday, @Kehetauhauga tweeted his reflections on the NZDSOS judgment. His 2nd of 7 posts, notes that even in court, the experts don’t listen to each other.
The final sentence is exactly what I saw in fluoridation, and I think exactly what we the public of New Zealand saw throughout most of last year in the pandemic response if we looked at both sides: “In effect, I had two sets of expert evidence, effectively in parallel, on many of the important issues rather than evidence that directly responded to each other.”
It appears that Bloomfield and Town left the issue of efficacy unaddressed. They addressed safety, but avoided the specific questions of the applicants. @Kehetauhauga said on the 9th of April after looking at the teachers’ case, that “The Courts ultimately want more medical evidence and consensus to emerge before final decisions are reached.” He has tweeted a lot on this, see the April 9th tweets as well.
We should also remember that the New Zealand media completely ignored the FDA’s claimed need for 75 years to release the totality of Pfizer data, which would have effectively rendered it inaccessible.
When some of the documents became public, the New Zealand media completely ignored that, too. It has been followed elsewhere. This allowed mainstream New Zealand to believe they’re still “following the science” while only seeing the information the government wanted.
Hang on a minute, weren’t we warned about this kind of thing a year or so back?
Yesterday, Paddy Gower and The Project interviewed Hayden Harvey, a 35-year-old who went to hospital nine times,
“but no-one wanted to hear about it.” Hayden said, “It’s a horrible feeling, to be looked at, like you’re bonkers.”
So much for the importance of listening. One can only wonder how many others were ignored by their medical professionals, something consistent in anti-vax writing.
Two weeks after getting Pfizer’s injection, Hayden “started feeling like he was having a heart attack.”
Paddy asked him if he was “anti-vax” – a fair question at first glance considering a “vax” almost cost him his life… but it’s actually quite a loaded question, given how much effort the media has poured into rubbishing anyone who wasn’t slathering love all over Pfizer and applauding Ardern’s obsession with injecting us all.
Hayden said:
“That look on their face as soon as you say that word ‘vaccine-injured’ or anything to do with the vaccine, it’s a complete dismissive look of, like, ‘no Hayden, we’re not talking about that here’. Almost ‘close the curtains’ kind of thing. No-one was really listening…”
Except for Hayden’s doctor, thank goodness she hadn’t lost her job from the mandate. One can only wonder how many other conditions have been ignored by NZ’s doctors.
What’s funny to me is that Hayden said “the vaccine is a good tool” – even though (ad the time of writing) it was costing him his profession, and no doubt some of his life. And if it’s true that:
1. Covid-19 is very dangerous
2. Covid-19 is spread by the unvaccinated
3. This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated…
… then shouldn’t all of the unvaccinated people be dead already? Shouldn’t they (we) all be in hospital coughing and struggling for life? If there’s no other ‘tool’ that can be used against this virus, then why wasn’t the protest in Wellington ended because of a huge volume of hospitalizations?
I wonder if they would have interviewed him if he’d started being anti-vax…?
I wonder if they ever will interview an anti-vaxxer…
One thing I really appreciate The Project telling us was that ex-Director General of Health Ashley Bloomfield denied this man an exemption from getting the second injection.
There were a few comments on the twitter thread suggesting that this is a string that needs pulling. It’s amazing to see that exactly this – Bloomfield’s denial – was discussed in the (now banned) NZ Health Forum page on facebook months ago, and at the protest in Wellington, in the NZ Health Forum tent.
And they wonder why people are angry…
If these claims are true, then this is part of Bloomfield’s legacy…
I’ll reiterate what Dr. Nikki Turner said to Ryan Bridge: “IT WAS REALLY IMPORTANT TO LISTEN.”
By the way, Hayden’s now on fourteen different medications. Better than being dead, no doubt. But one wonders how the man would have fared unvaccinated, with the disease. He’s a builder (or was, it didn’t say if he continues to work or not) I suppose it depends on what other underlying conditions he had, or has.
In three months he’ll be considered unvaccinated anyway, and his license to get into mandated pubs and clubs will be invalid, it will disappear.
I wonder if the same can be said for his heart condition…?
