An Orange In A Stocking
Have you ever received an orange in your Christmas stocking? I never have but I heard about it so I decided to do some searching about why. Now, I think I’m going to put an orange in each stocking this Christmas.
One lady wrote that oranges were very rare and very expensive especially in England. During the time of the Great Depression, an orange was the only gift that people received for Christmas. This is very different than today! Some think that an orange was just used to take up room in a stocking. Today, we can find oranges in just about any grocery store. They normally are inexpensive as well.
