February 2024 Calendar for Note and Letter Writers
There's always a reason to write a heartspoken note
February offers a rich variety of note and letter-writing opportunities! I’ve put a few in bolded letters. Most are self-explanatory, but I wanted to offer a little insight into the two free entries that sound very much the same but have some subtle but important differences:
International Correspondence Writing Month (InCoWriMo.org)
The InCoWriMo website bills this as an “Address Exchange,” but if I’m reading it correctly, it’s really a challenge to participants to hand-write and mail/deliver one letter, card, note, or postcard every day during the month of February. I don’t think it has to be to others participating, though you have the option of sharing your address if you’re open to starting a correspondence (they warn participants about sharing their address online).
The website content is delightful. In answer to the question “Why February?” the response was “February is a terrific month for a daily writing challenge because it’s the month with the fewest number of days. We’re committed, not crazy.”
One of my note-writing friends just wrote me about his experience with it: “I’ve been doing INCOWRIMO for years and have really enjoyed the exercise of writing to a new person each day in February. It’s been great fun.”
Letter Writing Month (Lettermo.com)
This is an annual challenge with two simple parts:
In the month of February, mail at least one item through the post every day.
Write back to everyone who writes to you!
This group seems oriented towards encouraging international correspondence, but certainly isn’t limited to that. When you join the challenge, it looks like you have access to private forums where participants exchange addresses, and you are committed to writing back to anyone who writes to you.
Pay a compliment…Reach out to a friend
Peruse the calendar for several other lovely excuses to send a note or letter. But if you’re sending one to me, please don’t make it February 26th…just wait until March 22nd and send me one on “As Young As You Feel Day!”

One note per day. Hmmm. Maybe they could be batched. Love the concept, though!
