Van's General Store and Partners & Spade have merged to form Greater Than, a testament to our shared belief in the transformative power of creativity on businesses. This is an exciting new chapter for all of us who live and breathe brand building and storytelling that has been the hallmark of our work. And, it's a bit of a reunion for Andy and me, as we come together again to help brands find growth.
Why Greater Than Now?
Recently, Andy and I have been thinking about and talking about the state of creativity in the world. And, our view is there is a lack of newness, an over reliance on reflecting culture, and vast amounts of sameness that really isn’t helping brands grow. There are lots of reasons for this, but it kind of doesn’t matter how we got here. We wanted to come together to fix this and make the kind of impact that only truly thoughtful and innovative creativity can achieve. We want to work together with partners to find their brand’s one of one opportunity and tell their brand narrative in original ways so they are different, not the same.
Andy and I have been here before, together, and we think this is what brands need now as they look for profits beyond the endless churn of growth marketing and back to developing brands. So, our approach is built on a simple idea: great work comes from products and services with authentic value. Something Andy and I have helped brands do together, apart, and now together again.

A brand, an icon, a rally cry, an expectation - and more. It kind of seemed exactly right when we came up with it. We want our people to be greater, our work to be greater, our impact to be greater, our partner’s businesses to be greater, and we know we are greater together. And, of course we have to be different. More of the same will not be greater. So we work differently. We work with different people. We work differently with clients. And we make work that is different.
But, the work is not going to be different for the sake of it. For the shock of it. For the awards of it. The work is going to be different because we believe successful brands are different and we believe every brand has a different story to tell. That is the path to greater results.
