So full disclosure...I’m going to take a verse out of the larger context of Psalm 17. Or maybe I’m not. Honestly, not sure whether I am or not. The Psalm is mostly another message about seeking deliverance from persecution and trial but then it ends with what feels like an abrupt shift...
As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness;
when I awake I shall be satisfied, beholding your likeness.
When I awake, I shall be satisfied, beholding your likeness.
It feels like the writer is waking up and after a rest is beginning to see things in a new way. Maybe I’m reading too much into it because I actually shared about the idea of “bold rest” in my message this morning in the congregation I serve. I gave a short spoken message and then transitioned into a video meditation using the images and some of the music that people shared with me earlier in the week that speak of rest and restoration. So, we’ll just make this short for today.
If you are in need of a bit of rest and restoration and want to take 8½ minutes out of what you have going on, take a view of the video below. The music is Apocalypse Lullaby by the Wailin’ Jennys and Energy of Hope by Gary Walters. Some of the photos are from my collection but most are what others shared with me over the last week.
If you’d prefer just about 8 minutes of soaking in the waves from sunrise at the Outer Banks a few years ago, you can soak that in as well here.
BTW - there were several other songs that people shared that I could not include in the video and I wanted to share those here as well.
The Lost Words Blessing - by Spell Songs
Valley of Vision - Telielle Neda
Faith’s Hymn - Hymns of Spirit
Couple of Scout moments…Yes the first is Scout holding a plush broccoli and greeting me when I got home this morning and the other are those eyes that have the power to melt willpower…

Grace, Peace, Love, and Joy,
Ed
