Tracking the Vaccine Status of NJ Adults
Immunization Database Infringes on the Medical Privacy of NJ Residents
Senator Vitale is at it again, New Jersey! Now he wants to track the immunization status of New Jersey adults using the New Jersey Immunization Information System (NJIIS). Vitale’s bill S3240 language states that New Jersey would automatically opt-in all adults upon administration of any vaccination. Once uploaded onto the registry, a patient's consent is assumed and their private medical information is accessible to health care providers, schools, colleges, licensed childcare centers, and public agencies, and private organizations as determined by regulation of the New Jersey health commissioner. Do you want your medical information uploaded to this database?

Vitale claims the bill will “help improve immunization rates by providing notice to registrants of overdue or upcoming immunizations; and help control communicable diseases by assisting in the identification of persons who require immediate immunization in the event of a vaccine-preventable disease outbreak.” Do you want reminders from the government about medical interventions? Do you want to be discriminated against if you do not comply with their recommended medical interventions? This involuntary registry is a slippery slope that could lead to severe restrictions on your everyday life should medical status dictate movement as was attempted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vitale’s bill S3240 is being heard in the Senate Health Committee on Thursday, December 15. We are asking that you contact your Senator, the members of the Senate Health committee and the Senate President to ask them to oppose this bill that infringes on the rights of New Jersey residents. Amend bill S3240 to say that the New Jersey Immunization Information System must be a strictly opt-in decision once a patient is granted informed consent.
You don’t know what you don’t know. This opt-out system exploits the trust of New Jerseyans.
