Well, my nonchalantness about the possible rain today and tomorrow was answered by the rain being “freezing rain”. Fortunately, not actually an ice storm, but enough so that there was ice forming on the windshield as we drove last night. The roads stayed mostly clear, though. No slip-sliding, for us or other people. A few idiots, like the car that was going quite a bit slower than us putting on his blinker to get into our lane, turning off the blinker, and then pulling into our lane. Note: there was plenty of room behind us, he didn’t have to pull over in front of us to take advantage of a hole in traffic.
Yesterday, WeatherBug was saying we’d have freezing rain tonight as well, but it is currently just showing rain. I’ll keep an eye on it just in case, though.
Other topics: My Bible listening while driving continues apace. I’m currently in Jeremiah. It’s amazing, centuries will go by in weeks. I haven’t quite figured out what order this reading plan is using. We skipped Ruth, and have gone right from the Kings books to the Prophets. I’m sure we’ll pick them up again later. A disadvantage of listening while driving, is that I have no opportunities to check maps or timelines that show the various kings against each other. When I was going over David’s young life, it would have been helpful look at a map to know where his battles were happening.
I also wish the Annals of the Kings of Israel and the Annals of the Kings of Judah were still extant. By necessity, the books of Kings (as well as Chronicles) are highly condensed, with the events cherry-picked thematically. Genesis and Exodus as well, of course. There is no way that the whole history of the world could be compacted that much without losing something.
Though I have enough faith to assume that God preserved the essence for us.
