As I mentioned before here, the art of writing is not for the most part obsessed with gear. That is, most writers don’t obsess over the pens or notebooks they use, or the typewriters or computers they use, to do their work. Some people might have a preference as to what materials they might use (like my obsession with Moleskine and similar notebooks), but in a pinch we can usually make do. Usually, if one of your tools isn’t working, you just get a new one. There’s not much thought put into it.
Where people write is another occasional topic of conversation among other writers. As with writing tools, some authors get pretty particular about what they want in a writing space. Some need windows to the outside, or maybe a patio or porch to the outside where they could wander occasionally.
