🎬 Miss Representation - Pt.1
A candid look at my first experience being signed with a talent agency...
Hello!
With recent absurdity in my personal and professional life, I’ve ended up writing a BUMPER post that dives into an element of my career I’ve never discussed out loud - being represented by a talent agent.
In this month’s paid edition, I’m sharing my wild and sometimes embarrassing experiences during my previous time ‘being signed’ and how my attempts to break into the world of mainstream presenting with the help of an agent did and didn’t work out.
Look out for the second instalment of Miss Representation coming soon.
Best, Jools x

Say YASSS, Girl!
Tired of the lacklustre state of my diary in the first half of 2023, I decided to ramp life up at a rate of knots in the summer. All the clichés you can imagine were in play: I was going to ‘smash the rest of the year out of the park’ to ‘make great things happen again’ and, of course, ‘turn the rest of the year around’ in my favour. URGH - I know.
The darkly funny thing about adopting that mindset is how detrimental it has been to the current state of my mental health. I’ll fill you in on that part later.
In a foolhardy attempt to become more booked and busy this year, I started saying ‘YES!’ with my whole chest to opportunities that would usually get a firm ‘It’s a NO from me, dawg’.
I said ‘YES!’ to facilitating a Q&A that was entirely outside of my hosting comfort zone (it was a very corporate environment, but getting to work with the delightful Sir Chris Hoy again was great), ‘YES!’ to battling my ‘Christ, I can’t cope with massive crowds’ anxiety by seeing BEYONCE in concert with one of my dearest friends (who also doesn’t like huge crowds - so go us!), ‘YES!’ to cycling and eating my way around Paris on my Brompton, and ‘YES!’ to a long weekend away glamping at a forest festival with my boyfriend… along with 17,998 perfect strangers.Â
There was another thing I enthusiastically dropped the Y-Bomb on this year. Something that I vowed I would never do again in my career.Â
In June, I signed a contract with a talent agency.Â
