Talking Horror with Clay McLeod Chapman
The prolific writer discusses his many excellent works with me
I’m trying something a little different this week. Instead of transcribing an interview for you fine folks to read, I’ve decided to just make the video available to watch.
A host of topics are discussed with Mr. Chapman. First he tells us his horror origin story (00:00-08:03). After that, we cover some of his novels including Miss Corpus (08:04-20:07) with a quick sidebar conversation about the movie The Boy (20:08-30:32) that spun out of that novel, The Remaking (30:33-42:34), Whisper Down the Lane (42:35-55:26), and Ghost Eaters (55:27-1:11:37). We then discuss his myriad symbiote comics that he has written for Marvel (1:11:38-1:37:55) with an emphasis on Absolute Carnage: Separation Anxiety #1 with illustrations by Brian Level and colors by Jordan Boyd, Web of Venom: Empyre’s End #1 with illustrations by Guiu Villanova (sorry for forgetting your name in the video!) and colors by Frank D’Armata, and Edge of Venomverse Unlimited with numerous artists. Lastly, we cover the Quiet Part Loud (1:37:56-1:47:45) serialized podcast that Mr. Chapman wrote for Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions before closing with his upcoming novel, What Kind of Mother (1:47:46-1:49:56).
Mr. Chapman’s next novel, What Kind of Mother, comes out on September 12, 2023. You can preorder it at the below websites:
