Anastasia’s Point Of View
I left Antonella’s apartment building feeling pleased with myself. She had no option but to sit tight and await my family’s return from Russia, after which a new relationship could be negotiated, and she would be leashed and controlled.
Finally, I had acquired her complete set of contact books, and after a brief check, I noticed Russian and Ukrainian criminals were not the only omissions. Gangs in Asia, South America, and even Europe had been excluded from the summary book Antonella initially gave Amy.
I reached home late in the afternoon, having dropped by Amy’s new corporate building where Stanza and Greg were discussing how to carve up floor space for new offices. I would set the Foundation up in New York’s central business hub, in far less ambient offices, probably in a Downtown Manhattan high-rise.
At our front door, Diana smiled at me as I kicked off my heels, lifted them, and scrunched my toes. I felt the ecstasy of toe freedom and moaned.
“I know how that feels.”
“I needed the height today, Diana.”
“I know how that feels, too. Did you have a good day, Anastasia?”
“Yes. I got a lot done, thank you.”
