Hello friends,
Today, I’m celebrating.
No, this isn’t my birthday, anniversary, or graduation. Three years ago, I agonized for months over these questions:
Should I start a weekly newsletter, and why?
Do I have the commitment to write every week, and what will I write?
Who will read it, and why?
We were in the midst of a pandemic, and the daily news streams kept most of us on edge, fearful of the future. Our hearts pounded as anger rose from the state of affairs at home and abroad. After a particularly wretched news cycle, I had enough of bad news.
The title of a 1969 song by Peggy Lee locked itself into my anxious thoughts, “Is That All There Is?” Peggy soothingly declares she will “keep on dancing.” The question conjured a different response for me.
I wanted more good news. I craved uplifting reminders of the good in people and the possibilities that live inside us. Did others feel the same? What if I looked for those moments and shared them with you?
On May 22, 2020, Inspiring Your Best came to life.
After three years, I keep finding the not-so-secret ingredients that make life come alive. I share those discoveries with you every week.
Let's celebrate!
What is it about celebrations that give us a lift? We all enjoy them, but did you know that celebrating improves overall well-being? The big moments like holidays, births, graduations, and weddings don't have a monopoly. The quiet whispers of joy also deserve our attention.
Take time to appreciate and honor the small stuff—the first rose bloom, sunsets, a night out with the one you love, lunch with a friend, losing one pound. Microscopic moments hold a ton of goodness lying within our grasp.
Despite rampant negativity, we can always find something to celebrate. Watching generosity, kindness, and patience while standing in line at the supermarket. A quick thank you for a meal or even a smile from a stranger reminds me that there is always more to life, more to celebrate.
What will you celebrate today?
You may ask, “What is it that makes you come alive?” Here is my answer.
I found a few reasons you should celebrate everything.
Take time today for a little “Celebration.”
“Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears.”
—John Lennon
“Every day is a good day. There is something to learn, care and celebrate.”
—Amit Ray
Find a little wonder this week and take time to celebrate!
With gratitude,

Or if you received this from a friend and want to receive my weekly post,
Congratulations! This is certainly not insignificant!! 💛 this is worth celebrating 🥳 All the ‘small’ things are. It was a birth of sorts. The birth of a writing practice, the birth of new connections and new ideas. I really enjoy your newsletter, Kathryn. We so very often are pondering similar things! The world is small and connections like this give me hope and make me smile 😊 🩷
