Hi everyone!
How are you? I’d appreciate having a quick check-in before getting into the newsletter, because I’m always curious how this newsletter is working for you.
I’m thinking of switching up the topic for third Wednesday. Currently the topic is Greeting Cards, and as of now, there’s a bank of 14 toolkits to get you designing, pitching, and selling your cards. Some of you have reached out to me about commissions lately, so I’d like to devote some newsletters to that topic. What do you think?
Note: These polls are anonymous. I cannot see who votes. I can only see the total votes. I’m genuinely curious about what you’re interested in, so please take a second to respond!
I’m also curious if anyone listens to the recording? I record it so you can listen while you’re drawing, and because it’s an accessible option.
Thanks for attending the check-in. It’s helpful for me to understand about your experience :)
Also before I forget! The next illoguild live is on Monday, November 6. We’ll be discussing a hot topic: money. Join us as we share our experiences about making money in this creative field.
Designing a Greeting Card
I first started selling greeting cards, because everyone was talking about the importance of “diversifying revenue streams.” Cards are low cost and low risk, plus I was already drawing cute characters for kids books. So it seemed like a good fit with children’s book illustration. My concept of this idea has evolved over the past couple of years, so I’d like to share what I’ve learned with you.
