Fool’s Day.
And, then, the “Cruellest Month.”
Poetry Month.
Bats and Balls. Hey, the Cleveland Guardians are 3-1 at the start. Not bad. Not bad, at all.
A total solar eclipse is coming on the 8th—a cosmic alignment of Sun, Moon, and Earth, in that order. We’ll be heading to Believeland, O-H-I-O, to see what we can see. Odds are, we’ll see plenty of grey cloud coverage and hear the moaning and groaning of a lot of NEOhioans, thwarted from cosmic within-reach joy once again.
We’re about seven months from the most consequential election of America’s lifetime. Check your voter registration. Make sure your friends and neighbors are registered, as well.
Where the Heck Has The Vincent Brothers Review Been?!
After a long, difficult winter, the forest is greening up. It’s been a long, strange trip. We’ll fill you in later.
For those of you who have been politely patient, we thank you for that grace.
Production of our PRINT Issue #25 is ongoing.
The Vincent Brothers Review editors have sent out all third-round galleys for our Issue #25, themed “Ghosts.” We’re still waiting for a few writers to respond to their third-round galleys.
To all Issue #25 Contributors: Check your spam folder and respond to the galleys we sent you. Update your bio if necessary.
Once we’ve received all third-round responses, we’ll send out the fourth and final round for signatures to print. We’re aiming to get the final mechanicals to the printer by the third week of April 2024.
TVBR Is Transitioning Away from A Website to the User-Friendlier Substack Platform
“The Vincent Brothers Review’s Weekly Reader” Substack issues will feature poetry, fiction, nonfiction, rock ’n’ roll stories, writing advice, writing prompts, news you can use, and updates about our print issue production schedules.
Subscriptions to The Vincent Brothers Review Weekly Reader are FREE for now, but we’ll move to paywalls for much of the content once we figure out this Substack beast.
Subscribe here to stay updated on TVBR’s print and Substack issues. Again, all subscriptions are FREE at this time, but you will need to sign up with an email to get the newsletter. You can cancel at any time.
TVBR “Work”-Themed Short Story Contest
While we’ve done some preliminary read-throughs, TVBR Editorial Team hasn’t begun making decisions about finalists from our “work”-themed short story contest entries.
The response email sent out to Submittable entries was mistaken about having a decision by the end of December. We apologize for any inconvenience this mistake caused.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience the mistaken statement (i.e., “TVBR’s editors will have a short list decided by early December.”) on our automatic Submittable response caused.
Once our Issue #25 goes to the printer—we’re aiming for the third week in April—we’ll read through the “Work”-themed contest entries in earnest.
Coming Soon . . . An Estonian Dispatch
Estonia and its people have headlined global news frequently the past couple of years. Its fierce and generous assistance to Ukraine, among other things, have drawn well-deserved gratitude and attention.
Stay tuned for a story by Rafael Alvarez about “Baltimore, Estonia, and Miss Kitty,” for more details about this Baltic nation and its creative, courageous people.
