The funny little animal that danced in last Sunday's video is actually the animal that causes the most deaths in the world.
Perhaps you thought that the lion was the most dangerous animal?
The problem with mosquitoes is not that their bite bites you; when they bite you to suck your blood and eat it, they also take whatever you have in it, including viruses and parasites.
And then, when they bite another person or animal, they can pass it on. Thus the mosquito can transmit diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, West Nile virus, chikungunya virus, or yellow fever.
You can learn more about this topic on the website of the World Mosquito Program. And even collaborate in preventing mosquito-borne diseases with the citizen science observatory Mosquito Alert.
