I like the way the mountain nods to us as we walk by
It’s pointy head bends forward beneath the azure sky
The rain falls down its shoulders in
Rivulets towards the earth
And yellow poppies spring to life
Celebrating their birth
I like the desert in the Spring
As cactus starts to bloom
Yet danger lurks beneath the rocks
Awaiting time to loom
I’ll miss the chance to see the snakes
And scorpions curved tails
The Gila monsters colored spots
Or coyotes beginning to wail
But I’ll never forget this place
The beauty that it holds
And dream of coming back some day
If future plans unfold.

paints a picture👍! Visited a friend in Tucson and it snowed Christmas eve. It's pretty country.
I often wondered what the desert was like in spring. Not a fan of snakes though.
