Watercolor dragons
Another ArtHangParty! with
! This was a special one because it was Mila’s birthday request (at the previous AHP!) to draw dragons & Melissa was quick to make Mila’s birthday wish come true.I usually work digitally for these live drawing sessions but wanted to try something new. I ended up using watercolors with a Pentel Energel pen on some taped-off watercolor paper.
Acrylic paintings
I started watching some of 🪩 Sari Shryack‘s 🪩 — Not Sorry Art videos on YouTube. One of her latest videos covers her process & I was inspired to make my own still life painting.
Sari’s perspective on her art practice was refreshing & relatable. She expresses how it’s basically a visual form of problem solving, she even goes as far as to say she isn’t a good artist as much as she is a great problem solver. I love it.
I had recently packed up all my acrylic paints because of my lack of space, lack of motivation to clean up, a sort-of teenage trauma around acrylics & need to ease my decision fatigue. But its exhausting being me & of course as soon as I put them away I find a reason to unpack them. So! I unpacked them & started these pieces.
The first one was the smiley face balloon, leftover birthday decor from Mila’s birthday. And the second one is a still life I set up on the kitchen table—one of my favorite mugs, an apple, a NiceCube fidget toy, candle, piece of chocolate & some dog poop bags. Cause that’s the stuff that had accumulated on the table. Honestly, the dog poop bags are my fav part.
Stickers
I made a (accidentally ASMR-like) video of me putting some stickers that I printed at home in my sketchbook. They’re drawings from an old Scribble Brigade session with Sophie McPike. You can hear sweet Millie (doggo) snoring in the background.
Thanks for being here! 🫶🏻
Oh you better believe I’m going to go watch that still life tutorial right away! Your paintings so cool!
