COMPOSING NATURE’S SYMPHONY IS AN ONRUSHING TRAIN WRECK
“We didn’t understand, We still don’t”
No, we want to chorus - you do not understand! This is where the train wreck of history is headed. A Greek chorus of MOROS ORETHROS - a chorus of doom.1 2
In the above Nobel lecture from Frances H. Arnold from over four years ago I find a blending of intelligence with the maniacal. Reminiscent of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Utterly evocative of the blend of industrialized insanity and techno-biological hubris of these totalitarian times.
Arnold is especially interesting to me. She - and the other proselytizers of the new biology - hubristically seek to take back control of evolution and manage it themselves.
“Nature has explored only a tiny fraction of the life and life’s molecules that are possible. With evolution in our hands, with the ability to set genetic diversity and to tailor the forces of selection, we can now explore paths that Nature has left unexplored.”
This idea that we can take over evolutionary processes and thereby improve on evolution is hubris of the wackiest, out-there, off-the-deep-end sort we as humans could imagine. Just as we once devised Gods out of our own image, it seems the desire to do better than our perceived creators often leads us astray. Hubris worthy of someone like Albert Camus. Echoing Greek plays and myths. Of the many cross-cultural myths contending with arrogance.
“Evolution in our hands” is precisely not a choice we want to make.
Accepting a myth as a true story is just one of the many steps contributing to the rise of totalitarianism.
It always surprises and delights when a scientist is able to merge scientific pursuit with real creative thought. Surprising, delightful and real. I sat through many advanced science courses at the University of California, lost in thought.
Creative thought more aligned with poetry, literature, philosophy than with the cold calculating application of science in the current culture. There is the spark of the divine which fires real science. The current science exhibited in these videos is industry. It makes a mockery of real science.
Anyone who believes modern science can be progress - progress gained by doing potential harm - is simply psychotic.
The psychosis is not found in science alone but throughout our cultures like a thread of madness we actually feed on and select for. Selecting for madness by the internet of things and just about all connected with it is a paramount feature. I have written about this before and will not rehash it here.
The scientist asks:
“How do I search this library and find something meaningful?”
Finding a space where meaningful things can come together to evolve to help mankind I do believe in. The capacity of enzymes in vivo to lower the temperature at which chemical processes may occur has always struck me as elegant.
Directing the evolution of mRNA in the laboratory is on the other hand evidence of insanity and hubris. As is gene editing. As is advocating for the production of chemicals, vaccines, and pharmaceuticals within a culture bent on self destruction.
“You get what you screen for in this business.” Yes, Frances, that is how it works. If you are scanning for the truth you will find it. On the other hand if you screen for the lies we tell ourselves this is what you get.
What you get here is dangerous and deadly train wrecks.

COMPOSING NATURE’S SYMPHONY IS AN ONRUSHING TRAIN WRECK
Yet another postscript to tack onto this as others discover and uncover the many delusional ideas we are subjected to:

Excellent analysis! Yes, the spark of the divine inspires real science because real science only exists in pursuit of the truth just as one's spiritual quest may be guided by the divine (however one conceives it); Real scientists and medical discoverers never forgot this as evidenced by the lives and genius of an Antoine Bechamp or Florence Nightingale as opposed to the Fauci's of today; the hubris began ages ago with the false dictum of man being the measure of all things, which was a false proposition from its beginning; Mother Nature and evolution have their own purpose and design which we can attempt to understand but not through manipulation to achieve nefarious and inhuman goals.
