I begged my mother to buy us Life cereal. It was circa 1975 and as a kid who watched way too much TV, Mikey had gotten to me.
That was the point, wasn’t it? The Mad Men knew their audience, that’s for sure.
“Mikey” - the preschool-aged epitome of the annoying yet oh-so-cute younger brother that many knew intimately well - graced the television airwaves at the time and was on every channel (all four of them) regularly. The commercial that showcased a typical day in the life of a family with three boys was played continually during the era. Though it was actually created in 1972, most of us who were there at the time would agree that it played in regular rotation in years to come, never ceasing in popularity.
