Hi, just to let readers know that the sheer fact of having had diagnosed Covid in 2020, and having taken all vaccinations, boosters and bivalents available since then, and having withstood long years of LC since 2020 with significant cardiological and neurological sequelae that have not faded..... after all this, there is still no protection against Covid reinfection! I got very sick on December 30th. I thought I had a stomach bug. My wife had me take an antigen test. The positivity line was very black and wide! Now the clinician has me in a five day quarantine. Its like 2020 redux. Back to the beginning.

Enough of the sob story. Here's the interesting question

What happens if an LC sufferer with still active symptoms gets reinfected? (1) Can they develop a second LC? (2) if so, does the second version reintensify old symptoms that had dropped away and/or add brand new ones not yet encountered?

Not questions of purely academic interest for me who now has to wait on tenterhooks to see if (1) is going to eventuate.

Any ideas or better yet personal experience, readers, Brandon?

Hi Michael, so sorry to hear you have been reinfected. I do not know the answer to those questions. Do you mind if I put these questions in the newsletter for this week?

So sorry to hear you got Covid again, Michael! I also got Covid in (March) 2020, and have gotten Covid again-2 more times. Based on some of the research we’ve seen, it seems like getting re-infected when you already have LC can have really variable outcomes. Some people seem to get a lot worse, some people have no change. For me, I had no change. But I was also fortunate enough to get Paxlovid each time I was infected. That helped both with my acute infection, and with my LC symptoms.

The clinician ruled out Paxlovid for fear it might present risks to pre-existent heart condition, so she prescribed a five day course of Molnupiravir.

I had a second bout of Covid in September. I believe it led to a month or so of insomnia (my brain would not shut off at night) and is contributing to increased constipation.

My LC symptoms have been primarily neurological, and they have been clearing up as of late. I should know some time in February or March if they flare up again, if we go by the standard six month "incubation" timeline.

Thanks very much! Your experience was very illuminating. I too have had increased insomnia for the same apparent reason. The neurological symptoms seem foreground at the present. Wait and see... Thanks again. I wish us both the best! Keep your sense of humor.
