Dwight Twilley, a singer, songwriter and guitarist whose first recordings with musical partner Phil Seymour in the mid-1970s pre-dated the genre that soon became known as power pop, died Wednesday (October 18, 2023) at age 72. Tulsa World reports that Twilley had suffered a massive stroke while driving alone on October 14 and crashed into a tree. He died while in a critical care unit. As the Dwight Twilley Band, Twilley and Seymour created an enduring and highly memorable brand of power pop that blended Beatlesque pop and Sun rockabilly “slapback” echo. They scored a pop hit with their very first single, “I’m on Fire,” which reached #16 on the Hot 100 in 1975. And while their future indeed looked to be on fire, the pair suffered from bad luck and label mismanagement. While each charted with subsequent releases, neither achieved significant success.

Teen fatally struck by NYC subway after collapsing onto tracks: cops
October 18, 2023
An 18-year-old woman was fatally struck by a train early Tuesday after she suffered a sudden medical episode and fell onto the tracks at a Queens subway station – leaving her heartbroken family in shock. Jessica Marleny Ajtzac Guarcas was on her way to her job at a nearby restaurant when she collapsed at the Roosevelt Avenue-74th Street station in Jackson Heights around 6:40 a.m., and fell onto the Manhattan-bound E train tracks, according to authorities and her family. Surveillance footage showed the young woman standing among other passengers on the platform as a train pulled in, with her hands in her pockets, police said. “And suddenly she just falls from the crowd onto the tracks,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said at a press briefing later Tuesday. “She just kind of steps forward onto the yellow part of the platform and just falls.” The chief said it appeared as though the teen had “passed out” and that no criminality was suspected. Relatives cops spoke to said she had an ongoing medical condition, Kenny added, without providing specifics. But her older sister, Maria Ajtzac Guarcas, told The Post that the teen had not been sick, and that the family was in the dark about what exactly had caused her deadly fall. “We did not expect it, we never expected death and nothing can be done,” Maria said. “She wasn’t sick when she went to work this morning. We didn’t know,” middle sister Cristina Ajtzac Guarcas, 21, said in Spanish. “We want to know what actually happened to her… We don’t know and we want to know.”

We should see each other more often.” Always find it to forgive one another and build on those relationships, as you never know when it will be their last day.

Phillip Hanna, 56
October 5, 2023
New Bruenfels, Texas - He missed his calling as a stand-up comedian, keeping everyone within ear shot laughing riotously. Phil’s favorite place in the world was his front porch – watching over his neighbors and neighborhood with his big dimpled grin and wave with a standing invitation to join him for a soda and some conversation; watching the sun set and rise over the hill in the distance, doting on his beloved Victory and Hip Hop Grace – his cats, watching his hummingbirds, and feeding the deer, his two geese that visited daily in season, the foxes, and even the occasional possum, raccoon, or skunk – from a safe distance, of course. He was one of the most protective, kind, smart, accomplished, annoying, hilarious, and generous individuals you would ever meet. Even though Phillip was taken too soon, he lived an extraordinary life surrounded by people who loved him. He will be remembered as a gentle soul with a big heart and dimpled smile.

Interesting that a couple of the "unexpected" death notices note that "no foul play" was involved. I do believe there is a lot of "foul play" going on. And I believe we know the perpetrators of this "foul play."
It would be helpful if autopsies were done on these people. And the exact cause of death was noted.
