Today we have a group of small swans learning how to paddle behind mom. Well, all but one is learning, anyway. That first guy, he's more about enjoying a relaxing ride. Giving the young ‘uns a ride is not uncommon in swans, but it depends on the type. Black-necked, Mute and Black swans carry their young, but northern swans like the Trumpeters typically do not give out rides, although they may if their brood is threatened by predators. Cygnets may also take shelter under their parents’ wings if threatened.

Oh Martini, you know that little one is saying "Mom likes me best" to it's siblings. I guarantee it. Thanks for the laugh!
