Most of us, introverts, gamers, and people that do not go that much outside, have been said “go touch some grass”. In other words “you have no life”, “you are a sweat”, "you have no friends”, etc.
But what happens if we go touch some grass🤔?
Well, it’s more than touching the grass, it’s about spending a good time in nature, taking pictures of your favorite flower, and potentially meeting new people. I used to be that person playing video games 8 hours a day, laying in bed, and scrolling on Instagram. However, since I started my self-improvement journey I started going outside, with my friends and met my kickboxing coach there. Here’s why I want to write an article about the benefits I got from walking in nature once to twice a week.
Why should you go to nature?
In today's busy world, many of us spend most of our time indoors, sitting in front of screens and surrounded by artificial light. But did you know that spending time in nature can have a profound impact on our mental health and well-being?
Studies have shown that spending time in nature can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and even improve cognitive function. Here are just a few of the ways that spending time in nature can benefit my mental health:
Boosts mood
Being in nature can increase feelings of happiness and well-being. Exposure to sunlight can also increase levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that is associated with feelings of happiness and well-being.
When I go to nature, I forget the modern world with all my problems, I find myself meditating, smelling roses, and sometimes having a jog with my mom. Which as a result, gives my brain some rest and more energy for the rest of the week.
Increase physical activity🦍
Having a walk or a run in nature, helps me to release some endorphins (a hormone that helps relieve pain), do my cardio session, and structure my mind. Which can provide several physical health benefits, such as improving cardiovascular health and increased strength and flexibility.
Improve cognitive function
Having a walk without any modern technology can help you to be more innovative, you give your brain some time to ponder. We live in a world where we are constantly stimulated, by entertaining videos, posts, and work. So when do we have time to think about life? If you don’t give yourself some time to yourself and your family you’ll just end up overwhelmed and forget about what truly matters.
Finally, I understand myself more.
Whenever I had some difficult decisions to take, feel like I’m not well mentally and I want to give up. I just go take a walk, I used to blame others and cry in my bed whenever the odds were not on my side. But just having a 10-15 minute walk with me, myself, and I in these situations saved my life more than once.
So if you're feeling stressed, anxious, or just in need of a mood boost, consider spending some time in nature. Whether it's a hike in the mountains, a walk in the park, or just sitting by a tree, the benefits to your mental health are well worth it.
