Are you ready to be the best you, and move forward in life?
When faced with dilemmas and challenges, not many people know how they would truly respond. Especially when there is great uncertainty about what the future holds, and options are vague. However, in order to engage more peacefully and gracefully with the process requires a deep understanding of who we are, what our normal responses represent, and understanding the dynamics that influences our decisions? For example, decisions are greatly influenced by the level of autonomy we may perceive to have over our own lives. Being autonomous, or self-governing, not only refer to the level of power, status, or wealth that may provide the resources needed to change the course of your life, but also how much you are innately guided by values, believes, unconscious unresolved issues, and pressures asserted by external forces, opinions of friends and upbringing. Very few people know how they will behave in a time of crisis, and when placed in a new, unexplored, strange environment with real dangers and enemies, in most cases you will behave as totally different person. Patterns of behavior within a familiar, friendly environment can suddenly change if the situation requires it. Unless skilled and experienced, the inclination of self-preservation and the fear it triggers, can suddenly remove the protective coat used to hide underneath, and bring out raw, uncivilized primal instincts. The benefit of personal development involves more than acquiring a new skill and enriching an ability that may open path to a better job, but is underscored by the hidden forces that govern attitudes and mindset, all dynamics that tremendously affect relations, motivation, and the outcomes of decisions.
Civilization is man's acceptable product and proven way of living in harmony with the environment and with others. In reality we can say that someone can sit in the shade today because someone else planted a tree a long time ago. What we don’t realize, facing the daily struggles of life, is how much of what we do and say, not only have an immediate impact on subordinates and friends, but may create or destroy a tree busy emerging, which may just be a classroom for your children’s, children. While many popular self-help groups promote wealth and abundance, it is often the degree of sacrifice, to forego e.g. personal comfort, and luxury for the sake of others, that measure of the depth of an individual in civilization. All of us are on a journey to uncover our true calling, to activate our highest future potential, and follow a path that may just be either the destruction, or saving grace for the future of humanity. Along the way, we need teachers, tools and maps to help bring us from where we are, to where we know we need to go. Heartbroken when World dictators undermine the autonomy of others and the freedom of for example a free market society, simply in the name of religion and ideological dictates that can go to such extremes as to promote genocide. What is important is to recognise the minute subtle narcistic tendencies in ourselves that wants to impose your way and no other way. If we really want to see change in the world in this interconnected world, we need to start with ourselves first. Personal Development therefore involves more than improving your salary, and standard of living. In a transformative paradigm, the role and purpose of personal and spiritual development, is to add significant meaning to life. It is about how we “Live our personal Truth” purposefully, which ultimately lead to a deeper sense of fulfilment and satisfaction.
Now do we really know what you really desire and want out of life. Maybe you just need some guidance, new perspective, encouragement, or a mentor to facilitate your transition towards your next great achievement. And maybe life is calling you to a deeper path, a journey of transformation that may just overthrow everything you knew and have ever thought to be true about yourself. Do you remember we mentioned that very few people really know how they will respond to an eminent threat, and in the face of disaster, or danger, will we still be the peaceful nice guy next door? There is no better time than the present to start thinking about where you’re heading in life and how you are going to get there. Joseph Jaworski once said; “”I discovered that people are not really afraid of dying; they're afraid of not ever having lived, nor ever having deeply considered their life's higher purpose, and not ever having stepped into that purpose, and at least tried to make a difference in this world." The experience of living in heightened chaos is highly undesirable and has a negative effect on our mental and physical health, as it depreciates the quality of our experience of life. But the scenario may change and you can move beyond chaos and find new possibilities during the darkest times, and self-improvement is the key element, because when you are on the journey of personal growth it opens new possibilities, new perspectives, and different better goals that can be obtained.
Why is Personal Development so important?
Imagine this, you’re on a boat in the middle of an ocean. You have the opportunity to sail anywhere, you can explore and discover new destinations and have the adventure of a lifetime. But instead, so many of us just float around in life, allowing the waves to push you around. Simply because we never took time-out to decipher where we really want to go. Now, when we replace that ocean with the life you currently live, are we just following, and floating with routines and familiar paths because they feel safe. Even if it doesn’t make you happy? The question is why? Are we pursuing a career because it's what seemed to be the only option, or is what your parents wanted? And soon we get stuck in a routine because we’re afraid that trying something new will be unsafe? The truth is that once you discover the 'why' you do things, the 'what' you need to do to be more fulfilling and joyful, will unveil itself with clarity and purpose.
Gaining clarity is critical for personal and spiritual growth. It’s like after cleaning a muddled, dirty window, the world becomes more vibrant, and enjoyable to look at. When we clear the fog from distracting our minds, opportunities for living life with meaning become more apparent, and our choices become more deliberate. As stated on the Meta-Life Coaching website, everyone would like to have an improved life and living circumstances, even when they don't want make any effort to get there. Personal development for some may entail a better financial position, have a better job, home, or car, or even a better body. And for others it would entail improved relations, enhanced abilities and talents, improving knowledge, overcoming habits, addictions, or behavioural problems. All of these goals may temporarily improve the quality of your current experience of life and may contribute towards your own personal happiness. Personal development, therefore, refers to the activities that one undertakes to improve themselves in a broad range of areas pertaining to mind, body, and spirit.
Can we dare ourselves to dream the impossible, can we dare to question everything we do, and most importantly, can dare to live authentically. Self-improvement is a journey that takes time, commitment and consistency in your pursuit of clarity to master some areas in your life, but it is worth it in the end. By exploring different dynamics of our human and spiritual development, either through a personal Life- and Transformational Coaching process, or doing a self-development course, you will find the answers for the solutions and progress you seek. When it comes to your own personal development, a structured and guided plan makes everything seem less overwhelming and terrifying. Unless you are a perfect self-motivator, you will need a personal mentor, or guide. Transformational Coaching and Spiritual Directing are modern methods of creating a transformative environment for personal improvement. In addition to helping you improve, a personal development approach will help you manage, unlock possibilities for further growth, and can reinvent your life to be more influential, and more impactful. Years ago, anthropologist Margaret Mead was asked by a student what she considered to be the first sign of civilization in a culture. The student expected Mead to talk about fishhooks, clay pots, or grinding stones. Mead rather explained that the first sign of civilization in an ancient culture was a femur (thigh bone) that had been broken and then healed. Mead explained that in the animal kingdom if you break your leg, you die. You cannot run from danger, move to the river for water, or hunt for food. You are pray for plundering beasts, and no animal will survive a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal. A broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken time to stay with the one who fell, has bound up their wounds, carried them to safety, and tended to the person through recovery. "Helping someone else through difficulty is where civilization starts," Mead said. I want to repeat, living in harmony with the environment and with other is the testimonial of a great civilization serving each other. What is important to understand is that we will never be able to live in harmony with other unless we are at peace with ourselves, and the conflict and turmoil evident in the world a mere reflection of the struggles faced in ourselves. With so much pain and tension evident in the world, it is not uncommon for many to desire a fresh start. Some chose to escape from the ever-present pressures of life through various means, just to becoming physically and emotionally more entangled in patterns that lead to self-harm and abuse. And that is not a loving, supportive way to unlock a better future, and find peace and the happiness you long for, is it not?
