Iditarod — Last Great Race
The festive ceremonial start of the Iditarod takes place at 10 am on March 2 in downtown Anchorage and the official restart will take place at 2 pm on Sunday, March 3 at the Willow Community Center in Willow. Hopefully the nasty drama is behind us.
Mayoral election is under way
Speaking of drama, ballots have been mailed to overseas/military voters in the Anchorage municipal election, which means the clock has started. Ballots for the rest of Anchorage go out on March 12 or 13 from a mail house in Washington state.
And just like that, the 907 Initiative has taken down all of its online attack ads against the mayor so that it can avoid a fine by the Alaska Public Offices Commission. The group is one of these dark-money pop-up groups that we write about here at Must Read Alaska.
