Two weeks ago we released a developer preview of our Toolkit 0.0.1. But, what’s a developer toolkit without an ecosystem of builders and communities? We are happy to report that we are also ramping up our efforts to grow our network of external collaborators. We want developers, organizers, and distributed computing enthusiasts everywhere to know what we’re up to and why it matters.
New Zealand, meet Neighbourhoods
Last week, Sid Sthalekar and Lucas Tauil of Holochain hosted events at the Dev Academy in Wellington and Auckland. They were joined by friends from Enspiral, Callaghan Innovation, Loomio and other community projects in New Zealand. Conversations focused on Neighbourhoods, our progress, and long-term goals for social coordination at scale. More than ever, these conversations reflect both our visionary ambitions and the possibilities made available by our near-term offerings to developers and end-users.
We hope to continue hosting events like these in the months to come. If you'd like to organize a gathering in your local community (online or offline), reach out to us on Discord.
👀 Prototype
While the engineering team has been working on the back-end of NH infrastructure (the sensemaker store, applet compatibility, etc.), our design team has kept one step ahead, building the full journey through creating and using Neighbourhoods! In fact, Sid shared sneak previews of the Neighbourhoods interface. Now, you can check out a walkthrough below, too:
As always, we welcome you to share your opinions and to take part in the conversation about how these tools can serve you and your community.
Aloha -
Saw your YouTube video and it was amazing. Thank you for sharing it. I have a HoloPort and would like to allow access to host your prototype.
Thanks for putting it up! And keep up the great work!
