Another part of our dream is to use an Airstream travel trailer to travel to, and live in, the National Parks.
We picked the Flying Cloud model, 27 feet in length, with the Front Bed Twin configuration, or FC27FBT for short. See the floorplan here. We liked the Flying Cloud model, as its the basic trim level, and is very functional. Nancy really wanted the larger, 27 foot size, since living with me, in what is essentially a glorified tin can, for extended period of time, could be, well, cramped! And we both liked the Front Bed option so that our living area is toward the rear of the trailer, where we can enjoy the view from the wrap-around windows. Finally, the twin bed option has two advantages: the twins are a regular 80” length vs the queen bed’s 75”, so my feet won’t hang over the end, and the twin config has the aisle down the center, which allows for much easier access and better storage.
We found a lightly used, 2021 model on the Airstream marketplace, and were fortunate to find one in North Carolina. We were doubly fortunate to meet Steve and Denise, who took lovingly good care of the trailer while on their cross-country journey for the past 18 months. Here we are, with the trailer, in Steve and Denise’s driveway in NC.
Our plan is to pick up the trailer in March. Stay tuned for the adventure of our first tow, from NC to NY!
Let me know when you are ready to pass it on to the next owner!!
