India’s Chandrayaan 3 makes successful lunar landing!
India’s space agency said Wednesday it had successfully landed its Chandrayaan 3 robotic probe on the surface of the Moon. The Chandrayaan 3 lander touched down near the South Pole of the Moon at about 8:33 a.m. EDT (6:03 p.m. IST).“We have achieved soft landing on the moon,” said Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman Shri Somanath. “Yes, on the moon!”
SpaceX notches 60th launch of the year with Starlink mission, one step away of tying record!
SpaceX is preparing a Falcon 9 rocket for what will be its 60th orbital launch of the year. The Starlink Group 6-13 mission is targeting a liftoff no earlier than 7:52 p.m. EDT (2352 UTC) on Thursday, Aug. 31, with a batch of 22 Starlink V2 Mini satellites headed to low Earth orbit.With this launch and another about to fly from California, SpaceX is on the cusp of breaking the record it set in 2022 of 61 missions.
International crew arrive at space station aboard SpaceX Dragon Endurance!
A SpaceX Crew Dragon ferry ship docked at the International Space Station Sunday after a 29-hour rendezvous, bringing four fresh crew members to the lab to replace four others wrapping up a six-month stay in orbit. Crew-7 commander Jasmin Moghbeli, European Space Agency astronaut Andreas Mogensen, Japanese astronaut Satoshi Furukawa and cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov docked at the lab at 9:16 a.m. EDT. After extensive leak checks, hatches were opened, and the crew was welcomed aboard by the station’s seven crew members.
Russia’s Luna 25 lander crashes on the Moon!
Russia’s first mission to the Moon for nearly 50 years ended in failure when the Luna 25 spacecraft crashed onto the surface, the Russian space agency Roscomos said Sunday. In an official statement published to the Telegram social media account Ros cosmos said efforts to reestablish communications with its Luna-25 mission lander over the course of Aug. 19 and 20 proved unsuccessful.

A mother and daughter from Antigua and Barbuda, along with an 80-year-old British Olympian who suffers from Parkinson’s, two pilots and a passenger escort rocketed out of the lower atmosphere and into space Thursday in Virgin Galactic’s first up-and-down sub-orbital flight featuring sight-seeing space tourists.
