Can't stop, won't stop

When you can't stop creating—new music and a poem by Mary Oliver
3

My new album Meditations has been out for all of about a minute and people seem to be enjoying it so far (thank you if you’ve listened!). But I’ve begun work on new music already and have spent the last week—since purchasing Slate + Ash’s gorgeous and powerful software instrument Choreographs—playing around with the above track.

The theme for this new collection of tracks, which I’ve been thinking about as I write these first minutes, is going to be related to the ocean.

As such I’d like to share with you my favourite Mary Oliver poem on the matter:

I Go Down To The Shore

I go down to the shore in the morning
and depending on the hour the waves
are rolling in or moving out,
and I say, oh, I am miserable,
what shall—what should I do? And the sea says
in its lovely voice:
Excuse me, I have work to do.”

Thank you Mary. And thank you reader/listener for being here.

If you like what you hear, please let me know down in the comments.

Stay well,

SJF

p.s. in case you missed it, I made a nice video of some incense burning. Watching the smoke dance in the morning light is soothing.
